Learning does not end in childhood. At Friends of the Care Project, we believe every adult with an intellectual or developmental disability deserves the opportunity to continue learning, develop new skills and enjoy an active, fulfilling life within their community.
Our Adult Outreach Programme provides meaningful activities that promote independence, confidence and personal wellbeing. Every participant is encouraged to develop practical life skills while building friendships, contributing to their community and discovering their individual strengths.
The programme is tailored to each person's abilities and interests. Activities include gardening, cooking, arts and crafts, literacy and numeracy, health and wellbeing, community visits and vocational experiences. Together, these opportunities encourage teamwork, communication, decision-making and greater independence in everyday life.
The programme also provides valuable respite and reassurance for families, knowing their loved ones are participating in a safe, structured and supportive environment where they are respected, encouraged and celebrated.
As we continue to grow, we are developing a dedicated Adult Outreach Centre that will provide enhanced facilities, expanded vocational opportunities and new pathways into employment, volunteering and community participation. This exciting development reflects our long-term commitment to ensuring that support continues throughout adulthood.
